The University of Abuja’s Governing Council has approved the promotion of 44 academic staff members to the ranks of professor and associate professor. While 22 staff members were promoted to professor, another 20 were promoted to associate professor.
In addition, the Council approved the promotion of two bursars to the position of deputy bursar.
At its 92nd and 93rd Regular Meetings, held on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st March 2022, and Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th June 2022, respectively, Council considered and approved the promotions.
A review of the promotion list reveals that academic staff members were promoted in multiple areas. There were seven promotions in veterinary medicine, four in law, three in economics, three in biological sciences, two in counselling and guidance, and two in mathematics.
Theatre arts, medical biochemistry, public administration, medicine, engineering, science, environmental education, and geography are among the specialties of other newly promoted personnel.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, congratulated the personnel, citing their promotion as evidence of their sustained dedication, hard work, and discipline.
According to Na’Allah, the University administration, with the support and guidance of the Council, is committed to ensuring that all staff members receive promotions when they are due.
He stated, “I must congratulate all of our staff who were promoted at the 92nd and 93rd Regular Council meetings. Without a doubt, this demonstrates their hard work, diligence, and determination. These are characteristics that our team at the University of Abuja encourages and promotes.
“I urge the staff to continue working even harder, as this position does not represent the end of academic brilliance. These professions need greater effort, responsibility, and innovation. You must demonstrate that this is only the beginning of your accomplishments.”
