Tony Xu Elected as Member of Meta’s Board of Directors


Tony Xu, co-founder and CEO of DoorDash, Inc., has been elected to Meta’s board of directors, effective immediately, from the time the announcement was made.



“Tony has built a great service for millions of people to get food and other services from hundreds of thousands of restaurants and small businesses,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta.

Tony has firsthand experience both operating a tech company and finding solutions complex challenges in commerce, which is something I have always thought is important to have on our board. As we move closer to the metaverse, I am hoping to learn from his viewpoint.”

“Every month, millions of local merchants rely on Meta’s tools to help them develop and run their businesses. “As the organization enters the next stage of its journey, I look forward to collaborating with the board,” Xu said.


Since May 2013, Xu has been the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of DoorDash, Inc. In November 2020, he was named chair of the DoorDash board of directors. Xu graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
