Who ‘leaked’ the winner of The Bachelor? Hunt is on for ‘mole’ as betting odds reveal a clear favourite to win Jimmy Nicholson’s heart

Betting odds suggest the outcome of The Bachelor may have been leaked, leading to speculation there could be an internal mole hunt to find the alleged culprit.

The ninth season of the Channel 10 dating show is set to premiere on Wednesday night, but online bookmakers are already tipping one contestant to win with very short odds – which suggests a degree of insider knowledge.

Glamorous marketing manager Holly Kingston, 27, is the clear favourite to win pilot Jimmy Nicholson’s heart, according to both Sportsbet and TAB.

As of Wednesday morning, precisely 12 hours before the season launch, Holly has odds of $1.95 on Sportsbet and just $1.15 on TAB.

Meanwhile, Sportsbet is tipping Brooke Cleal for runner-up and Chanel Tang for third place.

TAB is tipping Ashleigh Freckleton and Hannah Norman for second and third place respectively.

Holly’s extremely short odds suggest some degree of insider knowledge that she is a strong contender to win.

The Bachelor is filmed in advance and there are plenty of people – including the cast, crew and publicists – who know the outcome.

It’s possible one of these insiders leaked the result, causing a surge in online bets.

Alternatively, somebody close to production may have let slip the ending to a friend, partner or family member, who in turn spread the news.

If someone has leaked the result, then Channel 10 and producers Warner Bros. will no doubt be launching an internal mole hunt to find the culprit.

A leak isn’t beyond the realm of possibility, as last-minute betting shifts for this year’s season of MasterChef strongly suggested the outcome had been compromised

However, there are several other reasons why Holly may have such short odds.

For example, the bookies may have researched her chances of winning based on fan speculation online or by analysing trailers and other publicity material.

They may also have read press reports about Jimmy and Holly already having a mutual friend in former Miss Universe contender Francesca Hung.

What’s more, Daily Mail Australia previously reported Jimmy was instantly attracted to Holly after ‘falling for her infectious smile’, citing a production insider.

All these factors could have contributed to her being the early front-runner, without the need for insider information.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel 10 for comment.
