Stephanie Grisham said Sunday that she had to ‘deprogram’ after leaving Trump world in claiming that she should be trusted in what she is saying now in her criticism of her former boss.

‘I’ve had a lot of time to deprogram myself,’ Grisham told NBC News’ Meet the Press on Sunday morning when asked why people should believe what she says now when she admitted to ‘misinforming’ people during her tenure with Donald Trump.

‘I hope people will take that for what it’s worth,’ she added.

Grisham, who served as Trump’s press secretary and communications director when he was president, said it was ‘fair’ to ask why she should be trusted now.

‘I definitely got very excited to be around this glamorous world of the Trumps and certainly when I got into the White House, you do get heady with power,’ she told NBC host Chuck Todd.

‘I don’t know that he took advantage of me,’ Grisham said. ‘I think that was my own weakness.’

The former top Trump aide, who was infamous for not holding one formal press briefing during her time as press secretary, released a new bombshell book this month called ‘I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House’.

Grisham, who served as then first lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff after her time with Trump’s communications office, resigned after the January 6 Capitol riot.

She revealed to Todd that while she tried to resign ‘a couple of times’ in the months leading up to that point, ‘January 6 was my breaking point.’

Grisham resigned on January 7 – just one day after the riot and when there were just two weeks left in the Trump administration.

She told Business Insider on Friday that Melania convinced her multiple times not to leave the White House in the last sixth months of Trump’s presidency

‘I had been done for probably six months before I resigned and had tried to resign a few times and the first lady had talked me into staying, which also contradicts her statements that I was troubled and terrible,’ she said.

As revelations from Grisham’s book came out, Melania released a statement Monday saying: ‘Ms. Grisham is a deceitful and troubled individual who doesn’t deserve anyone’s trust.’

While Grisham said Sunday that she doesn’t want Trump to run for president again in 2024, she realizes this may be the reality and is committed to actively working against him if that is the outcome.

‘I know the way they think,’ she said of Trump and his team. ‘I know the way they try to distract.’

‘And if there’s any way I can… help decipher some of those movements,’ Grisham vowed, ‘I would do that.’
