The NRL is mourning the dying of rugby league immortal Norm Provan.

The St George Dragons legend died on Wednesday night time, aged 88 following a battle with dementia.

Born within the NSW Riverina area, the second-rower generally known as ‘Sticks’ performed 256 video games for Dragons between 1951 and 1965 and gained 10 premierships throughout the membership’s golden period 1956-1966.

He represented Australia on 14 events and is thought to be one of many most interesting gamers of the twentieth century.

Former gamers of the sport have led the outpouring of tributes.

‘I met Norm in 2003 on the Sunshine Coast & you wouldn’t meet a more true gentleman,’ former Dragon NRL star Ashton Simms posted.

‘I’ll always remember shaking your hand & to this present day, it’s the largest hand I’ve ever shaken!! Shall be missed.
