A man who won a division one prize of $1 million in Monday night’s Lotto fell to the floor and started screaming in a reaction anyone could understand.
The winner from Port Macquarie, NSW, greeted the official from The Lott who called him with the news by exclaiming, ‘I think I have all of the winning numbers! Is that true? Is that why you are calling me?’
‘I can’t believe it! Are you joking?
‘I need to literally pick myself up off the floor.’
The anonymous winner had bought an 18-game QuickPick entry from a Port Macquarie newsagency and was one of four division one winning entries in the No. 4082 Monday night draw.
He had been checking his ticket when the official called.
‘God, I am so happy! he told the official. ‘I’m really struggling to digest this news. It’s quite mind-boggling!
Once he’d picked himself up off the floor and digested the news, the reality of dealing with a sudden $1 million windfall sunk in.
‘Oh god, I don’t know what I will do with it.’ he said. ‘I need to stop and really think about this. ‘It will certainly make a big difference to my life.’
