This marks the first time in the history of 007 films that footage has been shot with IMAX 15/70 film cameras.

Filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga captured select sequences of No Time To Die using IMAX’s extremely high-resolution 15/70mm film cameras to deliver IMAX audiences greater scope and breathtaking image quality.

Only in IMAX cinemas will audiences see the film the way it was creatively intended, as the scenes shot with IMAX film cameras will expand vertically to fill the IMAX screen, providing audiences with unprecedented crispness, clarity and colour for a truly immersive experience.

In addition to being shot with IMAX film cameras and the exclusive expanded aspect ratio, the IMAX release of No Time To Die will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

In No Time To Die, Bond – played for the final time by Daniel Craig – has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.

The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Bond has two new allies in the film, in the form of agents Paloma and Nomi. A video released last week introduces fans to ‘cocky’ Nomi [Lashana Lynch] and ‘intense’ Cuban agent Paloma [Ana De Armas] ahead of the No Time To Die release.

During a piece to camera, director Fukunaga says in the video: ‘We have two brand new agents in this film who are allies to James Bond.’

The video then cuts to a scene from the upcoming film where Lashana’s character meets Bond for the first time, as she tells him: ‘The world’s moved on commander Bond.

While he questions: ‘Are you a double 0?’, and she replies ‘two years’.

Discussing her character, Lashana says: ‘Nomi is highly skilled, slightly cocky.’

While cutting back to the trailer, Nomi tells Bond: ‘You get in my way, I will but a bullet in your knee… the one that still works.’

Ana then tells viewers about her character, and says: ‘Paloma is a Cuban agent, she’s intense, I had many action scenes. Thank god I had an amazing stunt team.’

During the final trailer for No Time To Die – which was released last month – Craig, 53, is seen coming face-to-face with captured nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld, played by Christoph Waltz.

It appears that the old foes may even be forced to form an uneasy alliance. ‘James, fate draws us back together. Now your enemy is my enemy,’ says Blofeld. ‘How did that happen?’

Bond replies with his trademark smirk: ‘Well, you live long enough.’

Confusion: In the footage, Bond is interrogated at MI6's London HQ on whether his beau is one of the enemy, to which he darkly replies: 'I don't know her at all.'

Mind games? 007 is told by the film’s villain Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) of Madeleine’s alleged betrayal: ‘When her secret finds its way out… it’ll be the death of you’

The high-octane trailer shows Bond staking out the enemy with an assault rifle, firing the famous machine gun turrets on his Aston Martin and soaring through the skies in a plane piloted by female double-0 agent Nomi, played by Lashana Lynch.

Cuban star Ana as CIA operative Paloma, is also seen high-kicking an attacker.

The main villain in Craig’s fifth appearance as Bond is Safin, played by Oscar-winner Rami Malek – complete with facial scars and an unsettling white mask.

‘We both eradicate people to make the world a better place,’ Safin purrs to Bond at one point. ‘I just want to be a little tidier.’

Secrecy also surrounds 007’s love interest Madeleine Swann, played by Lea Seydoux, after the couple escaped together at the end of 2015’s Spectre.

Holding a mysterious folder, she warns Bond: ‘You don’t know what this is?’ – and he looks uncharacteristically nervous. Bond is later seen burning a note reading ‘forgive me’.

Fittingly for a production delayed by the Covid pandemic, the tone seems grim and apocalyptic.

‘If we don’t do this,’ Bond growls at the end of the trailer, ‘there will be nothing left to save.’

Fans only have to wait until the end of this month to see if their hero – as is traditional – saves the world and gets the girl.

The world premiere takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on September 28.

No Time To Die opens in UK IMAX cinemas from September 30 through Universal Pictures International.
