1. Alhikmah University (N103,000–N600,000)

Nigeria’s most affordable private universities
Nigeria’s most affordable private universities

Alhikmah University is one of the least expensive private universities accredited by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC). The university was established in 2005, following the issuance of its Operating License (License No. 010) on January 7, 2005.

The university currently has two campuses in Kwara State, Ilorin and Igbaja. Though these campuses are still in their early stages, they are expected to be among the best in Nigeria in a few years.

It should be noted that Alhikmah universities do not currently offer all courses in Nigeria. The following faculties are available at the university:

Natural and Applied Sciences Faculty

Management Sciences Faculty

Education Faculty

Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty

The Faculty of Law

Faculty of Health Sciences, for example.

Oduduwa University – N170,000 – N197,000

Another affordable private university I recommend is the prestigious Oduduwa University. It is in Ipetumodu, Osun State, Nigeria. Oduduwa has been in operation since 2009, when the university was granted permission to begin operations.

Even though Oduduwa is still a low-cost university, Wikipedia reports that it has a population of around 20,000 students. It is clear from this that Oduduwa University will soon become one of Nigeria’s top institutions.

The following colleges are currently available at Oduduwa University:

Management and Social Sciences College (CMSS)

Finance and banking

Natural and Applied Sciences College (CNAS)

Administration of Business

Media Technology and Mass Communication

Economics\sAccounting

Administration of Government

The study of politics

Relations Internationales

Environmental Design and Management College (CEDM)

Engineering and Technology College (CET)

Mathematics/Statistics

Computer Science/Mathematics

Biochemistry

Microbiology/Pre-medicine

Chemistry in Industry

Engineering in Computers

The study of computers

Theoretical Physics (Electronics)

Chemistry

Electrical/Electronic Engineering

N162,000 – N782,000 Ajayi Crowther University

Ajayi Crowther University is yet another low-cost private university in Nigeria that is open to all. It was founded in 2005, the same year as Alhikmah University. The current location of Ajayi Crowther University is in Oyo State, Nigeria. The university employs academics in the following fields:

Natural Science Faculty

Social Science Faculty

The Faculty of Law

Management Science Faculty

Humanities Faculty

Engineering Faculty

Faculty of Education, for example.

It should be noted that Ajayi Crowther University is a disciplined and well-organized institution. I personally recommend this university to anyone who can afford its tuition.

4. Obong University – N200,000 – N180,00

Obong University is yet another extremely low-cost private university in Nigeria. It is one of the oldest private universities that is still affordable today. In 1997, the university was founded as the African College of Management. It is now one of Nigeria’s most well-known private universities.

Obong University has a clean library for students, a hostel for everyone, and sports facilities for students who enjoy sports. It should be noted, however, that Obong University does not currently accept all courses. The university currently offers the following courses:

Accounting

Marketing

Relations Internationales

Administration of Business

Public Relations

Administration of Government

Economics

Sociology

Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies

The study of politics

5. N200,500 – N550,00 for the lead university

If you’re looking for a popular private university in Nigeria, look no further than Lead University. The institution is well-respected throughout Nigeria and the rest of the world. It was built in 2002, but it began operations in 2005 after receiving approval from the Nigerian University Commission (NUC).

It should be noted that not all courses at this university are truly accredited. For example, if you want to study law, Lead University might not be a good fit. Nonetheless, Tunji Olaopa, the university’s founder, is working hard to ensure that all of the school’s courses are accredited.
