Simon Cowell wrapped confetti streamers around his face after watching entertainer Keith Apicary perform a haphazard dance routine Tuesday on America’s Got Talent.

‘This was terrible,’ said Simon, 61, with only his mouth visible from the streamers.’ I don’t know what was happening’.

Keith, who said he still lived at home with his mother, had promised he was bringing his most ‘dangerous’ performance to the stage.

His comedy/dance act then appeared to consist of him just dancing around and acting silly as confetti fell from the ceiling.

Simon thought his act was so terrible that he struck his buzzer, while Sofia Vergara, 49, and Heidi Klum, 48, stood up and danced along to the performance.

Sofia told him that this act was a mess but that suddenly she found herself getting into it.

While Simon did not hold back his comments for Keith, he did also find several of the acts worthy of having their own shows in Las Vegas.

The season 16 quarterfinals episode kicked off with a unicycle dance performance group from Japan called UniCircle Flow.

Instead of the four unicyclists that competed in the auditions, they brought the full dance crew of 12 for the quarterfinals.

For their performance, the troupe of women dressed in red spun around in unison to music on their unicycles.

Heidi said they all moved with such grace that for part of the time she forgot they were even on unicycles.

Sofia called their act ‘unique’ and ‘spectacular.’

The next act to take the stage was singer Anica, who works as a realtor and said that singing professionally was her dream.

She sang a rendition of River by Bishop Briggs.

Heidi told her that she was her favorite in this competition and that her performance gave her ‘those Janis Joplin’ vibes.

After hearing from all the judges, Anica told Simon that being on the show was a ‘dream of a lifetime.’

Quick-change artist Léa Kyle then stunned the judges with her instant outfit changes done to the tune of the No Doubt song I’m Just A Girl.

Heidi told her Golden Buzzer pick that she gave her so many ‘wow’ moments.

Sofia said she loved the act and noted the costumes were high end.

Simon though told Léa her audition was better than her current act, but Howie disagreed.

Howie asked Heidi to stand up and said, ‘She had three Hours to get ready and didn’t even have time to put pants on. You are amazing.’

The Curtis Family C-Notes then sang a cover of Love Train.

Heidi told the family that she loved them and that ‘I was on that love train’, but Howie and Simon were not impressed.

Howie called them a 1970’s cover band that you would see at a wedding and Simon told them to not let ‘Mom and Dad’ make the decision on what to sing and said their next performance needed to become current.

Next up was Michael Winslow, 62, of the Police Academy franchise known for his ability to make sounds only with his voice.

He performed an act that recreated the noises he heard on Hollywood Boulevard, including: fire trucks, police sirens and an animal parade.

Sofia told him it was incredible what he did, but Simon was not impressed and said there was a pattern that no one seemed to be doing better than their audition.

Howie called him a true talent who deserved to go through.

Singer Brooke Simpson, from a Native American tribe in Hollister, North Carolina, roused the crowd by singing Lost Cause by Billie Eilish.

Sofia told her her voice was amazing and had a good chance to win this competition.

Terry asked Simon if he agreed and he said, ‘I don’t.’

Then he said, ‘I’m kidding. I think this was the best performance of the night so far. I really felt that this was you. I really felt your hunger.’

‘It really was a great performance,’ Simon said.

Howie also said she was amazing and Brooke said Simon’s comments ‘took her breath away.’

She was followed by three acrobatic brothers from Colombia who performed as Rialcris. They said their act was very dangerous and required complete trust of each other.

They used sheer strength to perform a hand-balancing act where they did handstands on top of the hands of each other and backflips that landed straight on top of another brother’s hands.

Sofia said their act kept getting better and then Heidi pointed out especially when one of them took off their shirt. Sofia told them they were amazing and Simon agreed.

‘This is a Vegas act,’ said Simon. ‘This is what AGT is about.’

A dance crew of 37 members from the Bay Area called ChapKidz dance group, dressed in white shirts, black bike shorts and yellow gloves for their performance. They danced to the beat and moved in perfect synchronicity.

They formed a heart and an AGT sign from above and the audience gave them a standing ovation.

‘This stage can make you or break you,’ Simon told them. ‘Tonight it made you.’

When the dancers heard what Simon had to say they went crazy and jumped up and down.

Simon called them ‘absolutely sensational’ and told them they were the best act by a mile.

The show then showed a clip of Simon calling Storm Large, 52, to tell her that she was coming onto the live show because the public voted her through as the winner of the wildcard show.

She thought that coming back on the show could be a game changing moment for her career.

Storm took the stage and did her own version of Take On Me by A-Ha.

Heidi said she not only looked like Jessica Rabbit, but that she was a ‘force of nature’ with an incredible voice.

Sofia said she did not think her performance was better than the first audition and Simon agreed.

Simon said her ‘rawness’ from the audition somehow got lost and Howie also did not think she made the best song choice.

Klek Entos, a magician who wore a white mask, goggles and carried an axe, said in his introduction that an accident left him changed and he became a monster.

Sofia and host Terry Crews, 53, took the stage to be part of his scary act. Klek held his hand over a burning candle, but before he even got really started, Simon buzzed his buzzer.

Klek told a spooky story about a tragic fire while continuing to hold his hand over the burning candle.

Simon later said his act just ‘took a long time to get there’ and wasn’t a great ending. Howie disagreed. He said his act was like a horror film. Heidi said she was scared and enjoyed it. Sofia said she was afraid and that being part of the act was nerve-racking.

The World Taekwondo demonstration team finished the show.

The group had 24 members from South Korea and the United States that were propelled into the quarterfinals after Terry himself gave them the golden buzzer.The group flipped and broke blocks of wood in unison mesmerizing the crowd.

‘I love you,’ Simon told them. ‘I love your message. I love your talent. I love your ambition. This is what America’s Got Talent is all about. We will be seeing you in Vegas.’

Sofia, Heidi and Howie also all loved their act and Howie told them ‘this was the best act of the night.’

AGT will return Wednesday on NBC with a results episode.
